Facelift + Renuvion® in Melbourne, FL
The facelift, or rhytidectomy, is among the world’s most popular cosmetic procedures and is performed on thousands of men and women yearly. While a facelift cannot stop the aging process, the surgery can take years off your appearance. Dermatology + Plastic Surgery, led by double board-certified plastic surgeon Rebecca Novo, MD, and board-certified dermatologist Anita Saluja, MD, offers facelift surgery for men and women who live in Melbourne, Viera, Brevard County, and the surrounding communities of Central Florida.
We are the only Plastic Surgery and Dermatology practice in Brevard to perform our Facelift + Renuvion®. This is a ground-breaking technology that tightens both skin and deeper layers with gentle radiofrequency heat delivered under the skin to turn back the hands of time. This has allowed us to perform surgery through very small incisions hidden from view. In the right patient, dramatic results can be achieved without any incisions by performing Renuvion® resurfacing.
WHAT IS A FACELIFT?
A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that surgically removes excess skin and restores a youthful facial contour by lifting the deeper supporting structures of the face. Incisions are well hidden within the natural creases and shadows of the ears. A facelift is the most comprehensive facial surgery available to enhance and rejuvenate the facial appearance. A facelift may also be combined with other procedures such as neck lift, blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, fat grafting, dermal fillers, liposuction, or other cosmetic treatments to achieve a comprehensive facial enhancement.
HOW CAN A FACELIFT IMPROVE MY APPEARANCE?
A facelift improves your facial appearance by removing excess skin and restoring the youthful contours such as your jawline and cheekbones. A facelift can thoroughly rejuvenate your appearance and improve your self-confidence. By properly protecting your skin against smoking, excessive sunlight, and exposure to other pollutants, your facelift results may last up to 10 years and beyond. At Dermatology + Plastic Surgery, we commonly combine multi-modality treatments for the best result, such as laser resurfacing the face and neck to restore the health of the skin either before or after your facelift surgery.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM A FACELIFT?
A facelift is recommended for adults in generally good health who have no contraindicated conditions and want to improve the visible signs of the aging process, such as wrinkles, lines, folds, creases, and sagging skin, such as jowls. Our Doctors will evaluate your condition and medical history to determine if a facelift is the most appropriate procedure to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
HOW IS A FACELIFT + RENUVION® PERFORMED?
The facelift requires anesthesia and may take three to four hours to complete. The surgery creates incisions that are camouflaged within the hair and in natural skin creases. The procedure involves removing excess skin, tightening and reshaping muscles in the face and neck, and extracting excess fatty deposits to create a defined contour. Renuvion® is used under the skin for tightening and lifting the skin of the neck and jowls and can be applied to resurface the skin to remove deeper lines and wrinkles. This technology restores healthy, glowing skin, and reveals what you looked like 10-20 years ago.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING RECOVERY FROM A FACELIFT?
It is normal to experience mild discomfort such as soreness, bruising, swelling, and occasionally a temporary numb sensation immediately after the procedure, but these symptoms will subside within several weeks. Most patients require a week of rest immediately after the surgery, with full recovery taking about four to six weeks. We provide a specially fitted recovery garment that supports healing tissue, which is worn night and day for two weeks, followed by nightly for an additional four weeks for the best result. We encourage you to have support at home for the first week of your recovery, to assist in driving to and from appointments, and help with nutrition and comfort.
