What are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide, recognized as a glucagon-like peptide receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA), is the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy®, which is FDA-approved for long-term weight management.
Tirzepatide is an innovative dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist with the same active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound™, which is FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight.

What to Expect with Semaglutide and Tirzepatide Treatment
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are administered once weekly as subcutaneous injections (under the skin). During your appointment, we’ll show you how to properly perform the injections so you can easily administer them at home. You’ll want to inject the medication into the abdomen, upper arm, or thigh.
Some of the side effects of semaglutide and tirzepatide include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation. We will work with you to adjust dosage and frequency based on your results and how you are feeling and doing.
Both GLP-1 medications begin to work within the first week, with full effects taking about eight weeks or more.
