How Does Xeomin® Work?
Xeomin® is an injectable solution containing botulinum toxin that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to prevent wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive facial contractions. Xeomin® is similar to Botox® and other products that contain botulinum toxin. These products work by temporarily relaxing the muscles in the treatment area, causing the skin in that area to also relax and become smoother, diminishing the lines, creases, and wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle contractions that accompany facial expressions, such as worry lines between the brows, and creases in the brow area.
What conditions does Xeomin® correct?
Xeomin® treats “dynamic wrinkles” or lines produced as a result of repetitive contractions of facial muscles in the forehead and brow area. By temporarily causing certain muscles to relax and cease contracting, the face appears more relaxed. Furrows and vertical lines between the brows that can cause an angry or worried expression are visibly reduced or eliminated with Xeomin®, rejuvenating the appearance of the entire upper region of the face. Xeomin® also provides the advantage of helping to ward off future wrinkles in those same target areas by preventing facial muscles from contracting over several months, reducing the impact of repetitive contractions on the skin.
How does Xeomin® differ from Botox®?
Like Botox®, Xeomin® is minimally invasive and provides optimal improvement within 7 to 10 days, reducing lines and wrinkles for three to four months after a single treatment.
Who is an ideal candidate for Xeomin®?
Almost any healthy adult with a few lines and wrinkles on the face may be a good candidate for Xeomin®. Xeomin® is used in younger patients to help prevent the formation of repetitive contraction wrinkles, and in mature patients to reduce existing lines and wrinkles. If you want to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, creases, and fine lines while preventing the creation of future wrinkles, Xeomin® may be perfect for you.
Preparing for a Xeomin® treatment
Prior to your Xeomin® treatment, we will conduct an evaluation of your medical and family history.
What can I expect from a Xeomin® treatment?
Using a very fine needle, Xeomin® is injected directly into the muscle tissue of the forehead and brow region. Treatment usually takes fifteen minutes to complete, with results lasting three to four months. There is no downtime required, and you may resume regular activities four hours following treatment. For four hours, we ask that you remain upright, refrain from strenuous activity, and avoid touching treated areas. Some patients may require follow-up treatments to eliminate stubborn creases and lines.
How much does Xeomin® cost In Central Florida?
Xeomin® is a relatively inexpensive injectable treatment, but its cost depends on the extent of treatment, the size of the target area, and the number of injections. Estimates range from $200 to $800. Since Xeomin® is not covered by health insurance, our office provides various forms of payment options, as well as easy financing to help patients cover the costs of Xeomin® treatment.
