Hello Best Self Family!
All patients considering injectable filler treatments want to achieve the best results, done safely. After all, you only have one face! Although injectable fillers are a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment, the injector’s expertise is still a crucial component in getting the results you want. We believe it is important to educate everyone on important do’s and don’ts when deciding on injectable treatments.
We have based the foundation of our practice on the synergy between cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery. Optimally, you want an injector who is a cosmetic dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or facial plastic surgeon. These physicians have had years of experience and training in anatomy and have studied facial balance and aesthetics. They are trained to use a range of products like Juvederm®, Restylane®, Voluma®, Bellafill®, and Sculptra® which can often be customized in combination to give superior results. Importantly, our doctors are trained to avoid as well as handle any adverse reaction or outcome.
In most cases, it is costlier for patients to receive injections in a medical setting due to the requirements of sterility and safety, as well as the expertise of your injector. Injections are not something you want to bargain hunt for.
Alcohol increases your chance of bleeding, bruising and swelling. To minimize these side effects, avoid alcohol the day of treatment. We also advise avoiding blood thinners – aspirin, fish oils, Ibuprofen/Advil/Aleve – for one week prior to injection. You may take homeopathic Vitamedica Arnica 3 tablets three times daily for 3 days after treatment to reduce bruising /swelling. Before your next injection, you may start Arnica 3 days prior, as well. If you prefer Vitamedica’s Arnica cream, please apply this three times daily until bruising subsides. Cost is $18 to 22.
It should be clean & clinical, not salons, homes or parties.
In a clinical setting, you can be confident instruments are sterile and that we follow strict cleanliness in line with FDA. We are prepared in case of an emergency. Be sure your practitioner has Hylenex to dissolve filler in an emergency.
Not every patient is a good candidate for injections. For some patients, Botox and fillers may not yield desired outcomes. Cosmetic surgery may be better to achieve a patient’s goals. Selecting an injection provider who offers a broad spectrum of plastic surgery and non-surgical services can lend more individualized treatment plans. Patients can receive advice on the best approach for their unique face and goals, not advice that’s based on a limited range of services.
We are proud to offer a variety of filler injections to treat conditions besides typical facial lines and wrinkles. When artfully combined with one another, these products can often profoundly affect a patient’s look, bringing out his or her natural radiance and taking years off their look.
