Kybella® can give a LIFETIME result!

Today’s topic is Kybella® (deoxycholic acid). Our latest Kybella® peer-to-peer training was August 1st with Dr. Kavali out of Atlanta, Georgia, one of the Kybella® clinical trial investigators. We enjoy exchanging treatment pearls with her & other specialty physicians because we believe lifelong continuing education makes a positive difference in our patient care.

The fast facts include that Kybella® treats excess submental fat by rupturing the fat cells’ walls, destroying the fat cells, thereby reducing the fullness caused by fat. There is natural inflammation created and we have found the skin stays the same or tightens rather than loosens after Kybella® treatments. Pain is very well controlled with ice or anesthetic and its typical duration is around 10 minutes. Common side effects include swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness. Inflammation post-treatment means the injections are working!  Rarely, other temporary side effects are possible and we will review these in our consent process.

We package our Kybella® injections as a series of 2 to 4 treatments 8 weeks apart and we now have small, medium, and large packages. The number of treatments depends on the thickness of the extra fat, and the dose of Kybella® needed per treatment depends on the size of the area being treated.
