Microneedling is the process of using a mechanical device with small needles to puncture the skin in order to create a micro injury. This micro injury sends the the body into the healing phase which creates the production of collagen. The production of collagen then helps to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. Vivace Radio Frequency (RF) is a microneedling device, however, there are a few key differences from it’s traditional microneedling counterpart.
Vivace RF microneedling uses 36 needles whereas regular microneedling uses between 12-14 needles. Why are more needles important? Because more needles create more micro injuries which will create more collagen in the skin.
A regular microneedling device will glide across the skin which can damage the skin by skipping across or scratching the surface. The Vivace device uses a robotic motor to gentle insert the needles into the skin for better precision.
The Vivace RF microneedling most stand out factors are the incorporation of Red and Blue Light Therapy along with Radio Frequency, which traditional microneedling does not have. Red Light is an anti-aging therapy to improve skin tone, texture, and collagen production. Blue Light is an anti-acne therapy to help target and kill Propionibacterium, an acne causing bacteria. Radio Frequency provides heat in the skin to give patients no recovery time, stimulate collagen production, and tighten the skin. The energy of RF is transmitted through isolated needles in the device. So what does this mean? It allows the Vivace RF microneedling to penetrate deeper into the skin by sending energy pass the epidermis and directly to the dermis. Due to this technique Vivace RF is suitable for darker skin types because there is no heat energy injuring the epidermis to create pigmentation. The Vivace RF microneedling is indicated for the following:
- Fine lines and wrinklesS
- kin tightening and skin crepiness
- Stretch marks
- Coarse pores
Similar to regular microneedling, the Vivace RF microneedling is done in a series of three, four to six weeks apart for best results. Patients will see accelerated collagen production up to three months after each treatment.
